the first time I cried in her arms was outside by the coffeehouse I was baptized that night in tears of new life passed from my mother to the love of another born again love falls from heaven like manna to the desert in our wanderings I tried to hoard it but it spoiled in the morning so I complained to god rather never love at all than to lose it I wish that I could machine things by my own sheer will as hard as I try it only seems I find I am powerless to cause the way in which I'm loved or left behind the last time I cried in her arms I asked why she was breaking me apart now I need to put it all back together again _______________________________________

she crashed her car into my house she took the front door down into my living room I was out of town my roommate was on the couch and stared as she came to sirens spread through the neighborhood men dressed in uniforms asked their questions the neighbors were standing on their porch heard the whole report as she said sorry when she fell asleep at the wheel _______________________________________

the morning after lying in my bed I called my mother she listened as I wept will I ever be the same again could I ever be the same of all our failures and all our many pains losing a lover it wastes us the most away the morning after lying in a tomb I rolled myself over and took a step apart from you I will always love you _______________________________________

about

'Put Me Together' is the debut record by Guest Rooms.

Sometimes it is flowered poetry. Sometimes it is wishful melancholia. Sometimes it's just music, notes and sounds that inspired us.

Arrangements are intentionally paradoxical. They are loud and quiet. They are meant to bewilder as much as charm. They are happy and sad all at once. They are neither one, really.

Ambient noise is littered throughout, as if to make a statement about the distinctive spatial quality of grief. Our grief becomes anchored to and triggered by the places where it forms. The sounds of doors, intersections, a familiar voice - Any of it can take us back.

Lyrics are hyperreal and totally symbol. They are simultaneously rational and irrational, reverent and irreverent. They are just words, neither here nor there. They are a true story. They are white lies.

'Put Me Together' is a snapshot of what was true for a time and is no longer. It's twenty five minutes and purposefully temporary.

Please enjoy your stay,
- gr
